CASTLES IN THE AIR

Paint my blues orange

As we romanticize

Make me laugh all night

As I fantasize

And walk me to my door

Left disappointedly, feeling unused

Castles in the air

We’re building

Sweet, forbidden wine I quaff

But I care not the least bit

It’s enough

To say I’m falling for you

Scenes through each window

Enticing fleetingly

Steal my composure by touching my innermost

I fear not, not now, but whatever this is

It leaves me light, with pending weight on my shoulders

Sunflowers galore in my make believe world

Castles in the air

We’re building

But I care not the least bit

It’s enough

To say I’m falling for you

Rug pulled from underneath

Castles disappearing into thin air

Sunflowers wilting to the brown earth

Now I finally see that something was in the way

Now I finally realize that I was leading me on

Now I wish foundations, for the castles in the air we built.
