Closed fists, wandering eyes, I step into the ring.
Heart beats faster than a fleeing, terrified bird’s wings
My opponent, he sees me and starts his teasing,
Fight or flight, which will it be? The adrenaline is rushing in.
A familiar story being told; the crowd’s jeering isn’t helping
It’s fight over flight this time, no escaping.
If I keep running away, no doubt every time I’ll be grieving.
So this very instance, I’m sticking around,
Staring him down, surely today I’m not falling to the ground
I can’t believe my confidence was having difficulty being found
I always had the ability, but to it, the lies and deceptions were bound
And I could hear his discouraging words over and over, in my mind they would resound,
So then it’s game on, ShowTime! Lets make some family proud
He’s at it again and I’m not buying it, this will astound.
My bolo punches be acting loud, and he’s puzzled, thinking of a turnaround
Victory is almost mine on this battleground,
I throw in one last cross, he falls and I win, the crowd is spellbound.
His name was FEAR and I beat him today.
A very good start I’ve made and I hope it continues everyday,
In past situations I allowed him to have his way
Not anymore, I’m free now and gone are the excuses and delays
You too should keep him at bay
If not he would control you and keep you in dismay.
Believe in yourself and shout out what you have to say,
Don’t give FEAR your spotlight and let him sashay.
You ought to be bold and firm in your ways!
