THE SECOND CLASS CITIZEN – Silent Cry

BD1

Patient love, patient love, come down upon me from above

Kind love, kind love, burn out this wrath

Come dry my teary eyes, set me free

Sweet love, sweet love, this life is bitter

Renew our trust, show once again your precious glitter

How much more will I be able to take

This very heart of mine will soon break

Fade out, fade out, hurtful memories

I’m on bended knee, let me be

I’ve become a worthless drunk, make me sober

Let me off this senseless decree

Colour, race, background, class, rank

Doesn’t change the fact I’m a human being,

Change at this stage is just surreal

Wash off the makeup, that’s what they all have on

Pretense, hatred, injustice die off, I miss so much the warm love I used to feel

  1. “Wash off the makeup, that’s what they all have on

Pretense, hatred, injustice die off, I miss so much the warm love I used to feel”

That part right there is what did me in. Reminds me of a poem I wrote in The Prayer Monologues.

Thanks for liking my blog post and I will be rereading this poem!
